The vast African continent includes some of the world’s most iconic scuba diving adventures. 38 of Africa’s countries have a coastline and the continent offers a huge diversity of diving due to it being bordered by the Indian Ocean in the East and Southeast, the Red Sea in the Northeast, the Mediterranean in the North and the Atlantic Ocean in the West and Southwest.

South Africa in particular is one of the most diverse and exciting dive spots on the planet. The area of Aliwal Shoal is renowned for incredible shark encounters, whilst the epic Sardine Run in June / July is hugely popular with underwater photographers and adventurers alike. Mozambique is also a highlight for shark diving fans and offers virgin diving that can easily be combined with South Africa in one amazing trip of a lifetime. In fact, all Africa lends itself perfectly to a long haul, multi-centre trip.

What better way to spend a holiday than discovering the incredible animal life above and below the water? The mainland of Kenya and Tanzania and their stunning coral-fringed islands are a stunning destination for a travel adventure that combines diving / snorkelling and a wildlife safari.

Spellbinding corals are also a feature of beautiful Mauritius and the Seychelles. Or for something completely different, head to one of the world’s most remote and spectacular dive destinations, St Helena. Here, in the southern reaches of the Atlantic Ocean, divers can explore historical wrecks, exciting topography, unspoilt marine landscapes, and even encounter whale sharks.
